Power and MagicSTORY / GAMEPLAY
Nimiane, the Lady of the Lake, deceived Merlin the infamous magician and locked his spirit inside an oak tree, somewhere in the deep forest. You control Gareth, Merlin's son and your mission is to free your father's spirit from confinement so that he can transfer all his knowledge and magic powers to you. Gareth needs to fight his way through a hostile world swarmed by warriors, magicians, demons and monsters. He uses his bare fists to defend himself but as the journey goes on he may find a sword and knowledge in magic spells, taken from other people met on his way. There are five different types of magic spells. To use them, you need to recharge your magic power by killing the magicians that appear from time to time. Your magic power meter is shown as a bar on the right of the screen.
Power & Magic is an addictive (and rather tough) action adventure game with platform elements and it surely needs you to give it a try.

GRAPHICS / SOUND
The Amstrad CPC version has greatly looking graphics with huge sprites and bright colors, although the animation suffers a lot and makes gameplay even harder! The sound is typical, featuring a few sound effects of shots and explosions, but nothing really special.

SOUND: The CPC used the General Instrument AY-3-8912 sound chip, providing 3 channels Mono Sound (via internal speaker) but capable to offer Stereo Sound provided through a 3.5 mm headphones jack (with pretty impressive outcome!). Also, it is possible to play back digital sound samples at a resolution of approximately 5bit. This technique is very processor-intensive though.
